Personal Life CoachPersonal Life Coach & Social Worker: Dominic Mapstone
Why did you start Professional Life Coaching? It was a natural fit for me with my work in prisons and on the streets with homeless people. The money I earn coaching contributes to this work with the homeless. Being a Personal Life Coach is a very rewarding experience, knowing you play a part in people achieving their goals and living more satisfying lives. It also teaches me... as the Director of a non-profit organisation I too am a human resource manager / marketing manager / public relations manager / Chief Executive and so on. Who do you coach? People who choose me as their coach tend to be professionals, the majority are female. All are successful, capable people who either choose coaching to take it to another level or to help weather a storm. Can anyone become a Personal Life Coach? If you are considering Personal Life Coaching as a career you need to complete a course and gain accreditation or ultimately you should have professional qualifications in either Social Work, Psychology, Management or Business. Life experience is also important in life coaching but can not be relied upon by itself if you are aiming to develop a quality Personal Life Coach practice. What is working with a personal life coach like? You
and I simply talk once a week on the phone. I help you to - 1.
Discover what you want and why. Perhaps the reason why people enjoy working with a personal life coach so much is that it gives them permission to look forward into their life with real daring and complete honesty - to see what life could be like. It exciting! Not nearly as exciting though as actually stepping beyond your previous personal best to actually achieve your ideal future. There are heaps of Life Coaches, why should I work with you? A Personal Life Coach who can cut the mustard working in a prison or on the streets with homeless people operates at what I like to call the 'Olympic level' of coaching. While there are many other coaches who can perform at the 'Olympic level' there are hundreds more who are perhaps better at marketing than they are at coaching. Choosing the right Personal Life Coach is very important as not only are you investing your hard earned money on coaching but also, you are trusting them with private information. If you choose another Life Coach I strongly suggest you check if they are either professionally qualified or have Life Coaching Accreditation. Why don't you keep the money you earn from coaching - why spend it on the homeless and children in prison? I have a very big 'extended family' on the streets and in prison. If you knew and loved these people as I do, you would dedicate your life to protecting and caring for them. We all 'go without' to provide for those we love. When a young person for example wants to get off the streets and go back to school - how can I not pay for the school uniform and 'back to school basics?' |
